Karan and Ekta Kapoor, the owner of Balaji Telefilms Ltd, broke into an impromptu jig on the stage together. Later, both did a short spoof on Koffee With Karan when Karan interviewed him.

“What will be the title if he ever made a serial on Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham with Shah Rukh Khan heading the cast?” Ekta asked. Karan replied: Kabhi Saas, Kabhi Devdas.

The next question: “If you roped in all the Khans of Bollywood for a serial, what title will you give to it? “Khan-Dan”, Karan quipped.

Bollywood’s star turnout was also the biggest at Ekta’s show. Most of them were called up on stage to confer the honours, unlike in other television award functions where TV artistes hand over awards to one another.

The Bollywood touch added glamour to her show and made it all the more alluring.

Strange are the ways of showbiz. Simi Garewal and Karan Johar, the hosts of two most fiercely competitive celebrity talk shows, ‘Rendezvous With Simi Garewal’ and ‘Koffee With Karan’, are coming together to judge a music-and-dance contest on NDTV’s new entertainment channel Imagine.

Though the historic collaboration between the two rivals is currently being kept under wraps, it is reliably learnt that Simi and Karan will be judging a TV show called ‘Say Shava Shava’. The title itself, borrowed from a chartbuster in Johar’s feature film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, is indicative of the show’s mood.

“It’s not seasonal or episodic, but an 11-day music and dance extravaganza, like any real-life wedding where boys and girls from all over the country sing and dance and are judged for their abilities. Yes, Simi and Karan have been brought together to host the show,”.

Director Karan Johar made quite an impressive debut on television as a talk show host with ‘Koffee with Karan’. Now this ace director is all set to judge a musical reality show called ‘Shaava Shaava’ on NDTV Imagine channel.

The show would go on air in January 2008 and will see television actors like Aman Verma, Apoorva Agnihotri, Juhi Parmar, Divyanka Tripathi, Mouni Roy, Narayani Shastri, Pulkit Samrat and Sumeet Raghvan showcasing their singing talent.

In every episode, the participants will sing their favorite songs and Karan, along with viewers from across the country, will select the best singer among these T.V. stars. Needless to say, that the participant with the least scores and votes will be eliminated.

Karan Johar took his coffee (or should we say Koffee) fixation a bit further as he is all set to be the brand ambassador for Bru, the flagship coffee brand Hindustan Unilever Ltd. Much-amused Bipasha says that Saif and her are just colleagues in Abbas-Mustan’s Race, and that they get along very well. They went out for dinner just once and that too for half an hour.
